How to read your AI visibility score
The score is the percent of AI answers that cite your website. What the numbers mean, why you might start at zero, and what moves it.
The short version. Each month we ask AI assistants the 10 questions your customers actually type, on four engines: Claude, Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Google AI Overviews. That is up to 40 answers. Your score is the percent of those answers that cite your website.
Reading your report. The 100 is not points on a test. It is a percent.
- "15 out of 100" means 6 of the 40 answers cited you (6 divided by 40 is 15 percent).
- "Perplexity 4/10" means we asked Perplexity your 10 questions and 4 of its answers cited you.
- 0 means no engine cited you for any question this month. 100 would mean every engine cited you every time, which almost no business reaches. Local businesses that grow this number steadily are doing great.
What counts as cited. Your website address appears in the sources the AI used to build its answer. Being named without a link to your site does not count yet, so the real number can be a little higher than we show.
The same questions every month. That keeps month to month fair. AI engines do not give identical answers every time, so a point or two up or down is normal. Watch the trend over several months, not one report.
Why you may start at zero. New articles need time to be found, read, and trusted, usually a few months. For broad questions like "best agent in a big city," AI engines mostly cite big directories and national sites. The specific questions (what it costs, how to do it, what to know in your neighborhood) are where a local business gets in first, and that is what every article we publish is written to answer.
What moves the number.
- Publishing steadily. Each article is another chance to be the source.
- Google finding your pages. Connecting Search Console shows whether it has.
- Complete listings. For "best" questions the engines lean on directories, so a full Google Business Profile and your listings matter.
